There’s a decent chance you won’t yet have heard of the all-male burlesque/cabaret hit Briefs and its current iteration Briefs: The Second Coming. But this homegrown show is something of an underground, cult sensation, and one of the most successful and vibrant pieces of live performance to emerge from Australia in years.

Next January, fresh from sold out seasons in Berlin and London, Briefs: The Second Coming takes over Sydney Festival. And if its massive success around the world is anything to judge by, you’ll want to snap up tickets pretty quickly.

The show has been variously described as “burlesque with balls”, and the love child of Cirque du Soleil and RuPaul’s Drag Race, and overseen by the fabulous bearded ringmistress Shivannah (played by Fez Faanana).
