The NSW Jewish Board of Deputies describes photo exhibition Beyond Duty as highlighting “the 34 diplomats who have been recognised as Righteous Among The Nations for saving Jews during the Holocaust. The exhibition pays tribute to their extraordinary courage and humanitarianism.”

This exhibition, held at the New South Wales Parliament House, is a testament to the horrors of the Holocaust through the lens of some of its little-known heroes. Beyond Duty is a celebration of those ambassadors from a myriad of countries, many of whom were from countries allied with Nazi Germany at the time, who helped to save Jews from the totalitarian regime using their privileges of diplomatic immunity. It is a narrative, in photographic form, of those who went beyond their duty to save innocent lives in the 20th century’s bloodiest conflict.
