Fasten your seat belts, it’s going to be a bumpy night.
Australia’s double Oscar winner Cate Blanchett is reportedly set to take on the iconic role of Margo Channing in a forthcoming stage version of All About Eve.
According to Daily Mail entertainment columnist Baz Bamigboye, the production will be directed by Belgian director Ivo van Hove, best known as the artistic director of the legendary Toneelgroep Amsterdam, his recent Broadway productions of The Crucible and A View from the Bridge, and Hedda Gabler at the National Theatre in London earlier this year.
The production will be co-produced by Sonia Friedman and Fox Stage Productions, and will premiere on the West End in Spring 2018.
Blanchett has recently appeared on Broadway in Sydney Theatre Company’s The Present, but this will be her first West End appearance since Plenty in 1999.
She will be stepping into a role made famous by Bette Davis in the original 1950 film. Margo Channing is a hugely respected and admired Broadway star who finds herself losing her place in the spotlight as she grows older.
